We recognise that in this generation, our youths have developed their own opinions on things based on what they have seen/read online. Transformative Learning is an approach where we create structured experiences to help the youth review and realise certain mindsets, emotions or worldviews that they may have regarding different existing topics/situations. Through our programmes, our facilitators provide an avenue for ideas to be challenged and shaped, developing a sense of empathy that may cause them to reflect and take on new habits or skills. Our programmes are then contextualised to their responses to help them apply their new found knowledge to their everyday lives.

To ensure that our programmes are relevant and valid, we use contents from research-approved approaches and well-developed models such as The Student Leadership Challenge or 7 Habits of Highly Effective Youth.

Building Mentoring Relationships

When we work with the youth, it’s not just about a short term, one-off engagement. We want to surround them with role models. We recognise that the youth are looking for people who would believe in, encourage, and enable them to achieve the potential that is within.

So in all that we do, from engaging our volunteers to delivering our programmes to the youth, the approach of our facilitators are not just focused on teaching a programme, but to get to know the individuals and inspire them through a mentoring relationship. Even for programmes that last for only a day, interested youths are welcome to continue their interaction with Trybe by joining our volunteer community.

Facilitating Transformative Learning

Harnessing Power of Communities

We believe that the best place for our youth to thrive is within a healthy ecosystem with everyone co-labouring together. We want to partner with families, school teachers, interested individuals, and other like-minded organisations to empower the youth and develop long-term, sustainable solutions or development programmes that would bring the best out of them.

To ensure that the experience continues on even after our Trybe programmes, we provide trainings that would help equip teachers and individuals on topics such as ‘Service Learning’, ‘How to be a better facilitator’, and other value-added teaching skills. We also collaborate with other partners such as the National Youth Council, community centres, resident committees to come up with platforms that could empower the youths who are within their reach.
